Be YoUUU Organization recently hosted its first All Transmasculine focus panel that was centered on the experiences of transmen of color. The panel explored a range of issues that transmen of color encounter in their daily lives, such as navigating the healthcare system, accessing Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), and dealing with discrimination in the prison system.
One of the most striking discussions was on the challenges that transmen face in the prison system, where they often face abuse, harassment, and discrimination. Panelists shared their experiences of being placed in the wrong gendered facilities, being denied access to healthcare, and being subjected to strip searches that violate their privacy.
The panel also touched on the lack of data collection on transgender men, which is a serious concern for advocates who are fighting for the rights of this marginalized community. Without proper data, it is challenging to address the issues that transmen of color face and to develop targeted policies and interventions that can improve their lives.
In conclusion, the All Transmasculine focus panel was an important step towards highlighting the experiences of transmen of color and raising awareness of the issues they face. It provided a platform for transmen of color to share their stories, amplify their voices, and advocate for change.
